The Only Reason To Patent An Idea Is To Make Money!
If you have an idea for a new product or an improvement to an old product, you have a quandary. You have knowledge that can possibly make you a tremendous amount of money, but, how do you protect yourself from somebody stealing your idea?
In fact, how are you supposed to safely evaluate your idea without the risk of losing it to the consultants, marketing people, prototype manufacturers, and all of the other people you want to, and have to, talk with about your invention?
This is exactly the rock and hard place that American inventors have found themselves for almost two hundred years. To get protection from someone stealing an idea, most previous inventors turned to the United States Patent Office.
Through the U.S. Patent Office, those inventors were able to secure a "patent pending" status and work to obtain a patent. If a patent was obtained, the innovators had the exclusive right to prevent others from making, using and selling the invention.
With the patent pending status, the inventor was secure that someone else who heard about the invention, could not beat the inventor to the Patent Office and get a patent on the same idea.
However, patent pending status has been traditionally very expensive, ranging in price from three to six thousand dollars. This economic barrier has prevented many a good idea from getting the full analysis it deserved.
With recent changes in the U.S. Patent Laws, the same patent pending status is now available through this firm for a small percentage of what it used to cost. This is the "Provisonal Patent Application." With the patent pending status firmly established, you have the opportunity to fully evaluate your invention to determine its true value. If the value justifies it, then you are able to move to a regular patent application.
If you have a good idea, give it a chance, get protected quickly and inexpensively.
